Word lists that never end
Thousands of flashcards, most of them for words that barely appear in real conversation.
13 languages · built on real speech
Tooti teaches the small set of words, phrases and patterns that make up most of everyday conversation, in short daily missions with natural audio.

Move your pointer. Tooti is listening.
Sound familiar?
Most courses spend your time on words you will rarely hear. Tooti starts with the ones you hear all day.

Thousands of flashcards, most of them for words that barely appear in real conversation.

Tables and rules first, real sentences later. Conversation is a listening skill before it is a test.

Streaks and points, but no honest answer to the only question that matters: how much can I understand now?
The kernel
We measured which words make up everyday conversation in 13 languages. Pick a language to see its kernel.

Based on our analysis of 111 million words of real conversation and a memory model of how fast words are learned and forgotten. Your own plan is calculated after a short placement test.
How it works
Behind every lesson, three models work together: a frequency model decides what to teach, a memory model decides when to review it, and a planning model turns your daily minutes into dates. All three update from your own answers.
An adaptive placement test chooses each question from your previous answers and estimates how much everyday speech you already understand, in about five minutes.
The planning model simulates your learning day by day, reviews included, and dates each milestone. It recalculates every week from your real pace.
Words, phrases and patterns are ordered by how often they occur in 111 million words of real conversation, and taught inside short real-life missions.
A memory model predicts, for every word, when your recall will drop to 90%, and brings the word back just before that moment.
We ranked every word by how often it is really heard in conversation. The curve shows how much everyday speech you understand as you learn words in that order. It rises steeply at first: the first few hundred words do most of the work.
Measured on 111 million words and tested on conversations the model had never seen.
Every word has a memory strength that grows with each successful review. Tooti uses FSRS, an open model trained on millions of real reviews, to predict when your recall will fall to the target and schedules the review just before.
Each well-timed review makes the memory last longer than the one before, so reviews get rarer over time.
Combining both models with your daily time, the planner simulates your learning day by day: new words, reviews and the minutes each one costs. That is how Tooti puts a date on each milestone, and why the date moves when your pace changes.
Estimates from the model, not promises. Your own plan is recalculated every week from your real progress.
Why trust Tooti
Learning a language is a big investment of your time. Here is why the plan Tooti gives you is one you can rely on.
Lessons start from 111 million words of real conversation in 13 languages, not from a textbook’s guess at what matters.
Each word list was built on one part of the data and checked on conversations it had never seen. It held: 89.8–90.0% coverage, as predicted.
Reviews are scheduled by FSRS, an open model trained on millions of real reviews and also used by the popular flashcard app Anki.
Your dates are recalculated every week from your own answers, so the plan stays realistic when life gets busy.
No “fluent in 30 days”. Every number on this site is stored with its source and checked by automated tests before each release.
No voice recording, no ad trackers, no chatbot making things up. Every lesson is written and checked, and Tooti keeps working offline.
Inside Tooti
Every word is taught inside sentences people actually say, with the situation that gives it meaning.

Clear recorded voices for every phrase, also available offline once played.

Grammar appears as patterns you can reuse, shown side by side with your own language.
